The Guardian has an article out on Geoffrey Hinton....the Canadian....Godfather of AI....who left his position in order to be able to speak out about AI. Here are a few takeaways from that article. He says that he is not "predicting" that AI will take over the human race....as he is accused of....but saying that it is entirely possible. He states that we are...."creating alien beings." He calls Trump a "corrupt, senile, feline"....who knows nothing about AI....but that he knows the "huge valuations of AI firms"....and how the stock market depends on them. He referred to science fiction of the past....(I presume he would include 2001...A Space Odyssey in this)....and said that it was once fantasy but...."Now it's all happened." He said that people like Musk..."don't believe in democracy"....and see themselves as...."Ubermenschen"....who should...."control society"....and that Trump is a "useful instrument in that aim." He likens AI companies regulating themselves as to....letting tobacco companies regulate themselves. You can read the entire article on Drudge right now.
It has been ten years of studying the life of Donald Trump. I cannot think of a single time when he appeared to be in a normal conversation. By that I mean that we all know people who have trouble conversing....as they just seem to say the wrong thing in every conversation....and we feel bad for them. A normal conversation is where the participants are simply being honest...and the conversation flows....no big deal....and a nice time was had by both....but with Trump it is....and always has been.....and probably always will be....that you cannot go five minutes into the talk....when he panics and feels that he hasn't exalted himself in some way in those five minutes! Everything is self-exaltation or a defensive posture! I'll give you one simple example out of probably thousands that I have heard as I continue to study him. The Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier was deployed for a record number of months....we all know about that....and Trump was questioned about it. All he had to say would have been...."Yes....these men and women are really being called upon on a rough deployment....but we will get them home as soon as we can." Simple...anyone else in government would have said something like that.....but Trump does not have the ability to speak a simple honest statement from the heart....and his ridiculous response was...."It hasn't been long enough!' It is sad listening to this man who can only read something indelibly scripted in his mind....and after eleven years now....it has become more of a throbbing vexation....and as Jonah Goldberg recently said....the American public....has....'Trump fatigue'....as they have had enough of the antics and the jibes and the obvious lies.
Conservatives and evangelicals have been rewired to think of the name of Bill Gates and begin to attack....and yes....his philosophy and ideology....if he has one....are often antithetical to ours....but he is also one of the many AI people who are very concerned about AI. He made a comment in an interview over the weekend that we....whoever 'we' entails....have to decide what jobs to reserve for humans. That is a fact folks....AI is taking and will continue to accelerate taking jobs! Everyone who right now thinks that AI is really a neat thing....are going to change that opinion. This is why the elites of this world often talk about a four day work week....and worse yet....a situation where most of the people do have employment or professions....but they just stay home and the government issues them a monthly check. On AI....Gates said that the existential dangers of AI may be a few years off....but right now the problem is that 'bad people'....will hijack....(I forgot what word he used)....will hijack AI and use it for their own dangerous purposes.
Donald Trump has been in Putin's pocket since June 15, 2015 when he came down that golden escalator....and everyone knows it....everyone that is except those who refuse to accept what is right in front of them. Trump was a concern to all of our intelligence agencies from the very beginning of his involvement with Russia back in the mid-80s. The hideous German Fuhrer wrote that if telling a big lie was...."colossal enough'....people would begin to believe it....and that big colossal lie....of the past ten years has been....'Russia hoax'.'
It's really something to behold how far Fox News has fallen. Right now they are leading off with a Trump rally....and a very positive headline.....and they are almost boasting that Trump has called for a new president in the Ukraine. This after Trump gave Putin a big economic break on the diesel gas issue....which in effect is aiding Putin....the mass murderer of Russia....and all this to get a small boast for the coming midterms!
