Conservatives are following President Trump every bit as blindly as Progressives followed President Obama.... a phenomenon of which we used to be amazed. True, the narrative is different...President Trump's being patriotic and somewhat wholesome while President Obama's was purposely self-destructive, Marxist and literally anti-American but the psychological traits are similar in that both parties achieved what they wanted....their man in office....and then they promptly quit thinking. All of this Russian hysteria, as difficult as it's been, has served to bolster Trump's base support, for legitimate and necessary critical analysis of President Trump is now depicted as harmful.....even as part of the effort to undermine the administration....as our attention is focused on the impreachment hysteria.
Listening to President Trump's speech at the recent rally in Iowa should be disturbing to the majority of us who voted for Donald Trump....but it isn't. There was a lot of obvious deception in the President's words but radio host Laura Ingraham could only bring herself to describe that deception as...'some exaggeration.' The ego displayed....in my opinion....actually exceeded that of Barack Obama...something I wasn't sure was even possible. He mentioned the 'solar wall'...an interesting idea and may even be a very good idea....but he had to add that it was his idea. Usually only an adolescent would say something like that. "They love me in Iowa....They don't want me to leave"...is that what he said?
His praise for the Chinese leader....the Communist Chinese leader....should have sickened us....but we scrutinize nothing that he says. We have now totally bought into Jared Kushner. I tell you folks....I observe this young man....and it's frightening. I doubt that he shares one scintilla of the conservative values that we do. Typical of rallies like this, the president threw out another line meant to reel the audience in even more. He said that the administration would seek a five-year wait for immigrants to be able to avail themselves of welfare benefits. President Trump does this type of thing all the time. Just about all of it has a window of years before anyone can prove that he wasn't quite telling the truth, but that's what he wants...a few years to keep his conservative support.
I am not nor ever was a Never Trumper. I celebrated as much as anyone on November 8th, but I cringe at how conservatives are turning out to be so gullible and easy to manipulate. We think that President Trump took us out of the Paris Climate Agreement. He made a statement and no one in the government even knows what he meant by it. There is a way that our exit can be done....and there are ways that it can just be made to look like we exited. Until we see something concrete...we are still in that thing. The healthcare fiascos alone should have woke us up.
Hillary is not president and we should all be thankful for that but to my conservative friends....if I have any left.....take what you can get from President Trump and be thankful for it....support him as he directs our military in the dangerous days ahead.....but be careful placing your trust in him!
