It was a short five minute drive so I only heard a minute or so of Rush but I did hear this...."...how anybody in the world can hear that last night and be mad at it or disappointed or whatever.... it
doesn't make any kind of logical sense." I'll answer that....Rush....I'm not a Trump hater....I'm a 'Trump...four years only conservative.' I'm not the 'Left.' I celebrated when he won in 2016. How could I not celebrate the speech last night? The words were scripted by professionals to emote patriotism while obscuring who Donald Trump really is....the scene was choreographed and elongated to dazzle rather than codify....and the man giving it a master of manipulation....and a mesmerizer of of followers.
The billboard is about 65 feet tall and stands on a busy intersection in Tel Aviv. President Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu are smiling and shaking hands in the photo while in large Hebrew print reads Netanyahu....In Another League....this as Israeli elections are coming up. I would offer this advice to Israelis....you might want to read in your own Scriptures what happened as Israel had at times depended upon earthly alliances over the only alliance that counts.
The abortion laws from two states that have been in the news over the past week or so are nothing but Auschwitz revisited. This is part of what the conservative base in Republican politics has fought tooth and nail against for a long time. In a related event the 1984 yearbook from the medical school that the governor of Virginia graduated from has now taken over the news. Some questions that I would have would be how that photo was OK'd by a major medical school in 1984 in the first place? I would also ask how the governor became governor without this photo having been found? Surely this is the end of this man's political career as to future elections....but having said that....which should be obvious to all....what should also be obvious is that we are nothing but hypocrites....Brett Kavanaugh had a family that we were so concerned about....apparently Governor Northam doesn't have an innocent family.... they didn't want Kavanaugh's side of the story.....and we don't want Northam's....we weren't even worried about Roy Moore's family. The only thing we care about is winning politically. It had been the regular habit of Democrats for years to try and find one instance were one of our people did something stupid in their youth....they would then destroy indiscriminately.....and we were outraged....but when the tables are turned....and we find one thing.....we destroy indiscriminately. We say that we are outraged at the abortion law.....but could care less that President Trump could care less about abortion. (forget the two Supreme Court justices as an excuse.....he couldn't have gotten out of those nominations if he tried....look at what his daughter tried to do with Planned Parenthood)
There's a line in Ted Turner's Gettysburg where Brigadier General John Buford (Sam Elliot) looks at the potential battlefield before him.....and knowing the proclivity of the Union generals to choose to stand and fight on disadvantageous battlegrounds....beats his breast and spits out....."Afterwords men in tall hats and gold watch fobs will say...'What a brave charge it was...'." Sending our military into Venezuela after we stirred a volatile situation would be outrageous....as it would for a geopolitical chess move....or to get back at Russia and China who have invested heavily in the country. (China at $65 to $70 billion) To say that the situation is fluid is an understatement. Situations like this can quickly spiral out of control. Telling the world to pick sides was not wise. It's not our job to force a confrontation.
It was nice while it lasted.....no State Of The Union address....but it is now scheduled for Tuesday February 5th....at 9:00 PM I presume. I mentioned this before and still hold to it....I'll suggest that that hour might be used as a National Hour of Prayer and Humiliation. Christians can stay away from their television sets and pray for mercies towards our nation....acknowledging our own culpability in our distresses. I'll be doing just that....Lord willing. I may be the only one! This speech has turned out to be nothing but a political propaganda adventure where all of the pertinent issues and disagreeable facts are swept aside or nuanced to make the incumbent look good. It only serves to deaden our already malnourished discernment....and that's the better scenario. So let's do that....set aside that time for something that is edifying....you and me...and maybe a third person.
Here is but one of President Trump's tweets over the past twelve hours...."How does Da Nang Dick (Blumenthal) serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee when he defrauded the American people about his so called War Hero status in Vietnam, only to later admit, with tears pouring down his face that he was never in Vietnam. An embarrassment to our Country." First of all there isn't any evidence that the Democrat Senator claimed to be a hero.....or that he cried. It's interesting that the President referenced the Vietnamese city of Da Nang....for in November of 2017 it upset me to see a picture of him....in Da Nang....smiling broadly under a statue of Ho Chi Minh. Unsettling also was his endorsement of Luther Strange against Roy Moore.....who commanded a military police company in Da Nang. And now the second Trump/Kim Jong-un reality show is most likely going to be in Vietnam....possibly Da Nang. Where is the real embarrassment to our country?
Someday the FBI is going to have to answer why they felt it necessary to employ an anti-terrorist style arrest of Roger Stone. What you do is call Stone's lawyer and inform him that the FBI will be at his house at 10 AM in the morning to arrest him. Mueller seems to be blind to the negative effect that his ongoing investigation is having upon the nation that he certainly thinks he is protecting. There are other serious problems that this nation faces Mr. Mueller....you are making it harder to deal with them. That being said....Donald Trump brought this probe on himself. It is legitimate to question whether real estate developer turned politician Donald Trump had a 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours' deal with not only a foreign power but an antagonistic foreign power. Even if this is proved to be the case it would most likely not be 'collusion' as it is presented to be. It would be extreme stupidity from a man who had no business entering the arena that he entered. If the probe eventually shows that Donald Trump was involved in what would be criminal business dealings....then that would be unfortunate for everyone involved. Due to the politically biased methods of....some....of the FBI....pardons would be in order for....some....of the people lured into panicked responses to extraordinarily threatening interrogations. As for the opposition party....the Democrats....they are a fact of life in America....a plague....on top of the self-serving ethical stagnation of the Republican Party.
