Update on the following pre-State Of The Union post: No I did not watch last night's State Of The Union. I prayed during the 9 o'clock hour as I said that I would.....and spent the rest of the evening reading a very poignant book that I picked up on the Barnes & Noble 'Bargain' table....All The Gallant Men....the First Memoir by a USS Arizona Survivor....written by then 94 year old Donald Stratton.....what an edifying evening....prayer and a book like this rather than the nuanced reporting of facts and ravings of a false prophet. Approval polls on the speech seem very high this morning but those are surveys of people who watched the speech. I haven't seen figures yet on how many people tuned in....his 2018 address garnered an estimated 45.6 million viewers. (just released 46.9 million) I will add this....my wife made my favorite 'Hawaiian Meatballs' for my birthday. She laughed and said that she added the brown sugar in the meatballs instead of the sauce....they were the best Hawaiian Meatballs yet! Sometimes.....even often....things turn out better when you think they are worse!
The Super Bowl Of Serfdom
Please join me if you should feel so inclined....to take the 9 PM hour this evening....and pray with me....pray for America....an America that on one evening can with shouts and cheers of a Super Bowl stomp all over the Lord's Day that it once honored....and then two evenings later....display a travesty of ignorance and gullibility....in our Super Bowl of serfdom....the State Of The Union Address....or the Speech From The Throne as Thomas Jefferson likened it to....where we annually let the current home team king play on our emotions....while we busy ourselves in gazing at the spectacle....and either cheer the king from one side of the aisle....or slurk in the background plotting his demise from the other.
I expect that President Trump's speech will appear sane....maybe even profound at times to some.....because his speech writers will have worked overtime. It doesn't matter what Donald Trump says....it's only a game to him. He fooled the people in Poland once....and last year we called his State Of The Union address 'Reaganesque'....so they can fool us just as easily again.
I wouldn't trade places with a single person in that setting tonight....as I wouldn't want to be in the spiritually dark setting of that chamber. I posted the following words after last year's State Of The Union Address...."Otherwise intelligent men and women....men and women who eighteen months ago were vigilant....have overnight become analytically inept. Christian ministers who probably have warned often about charismatic preachers....(false prophets)....fell for one themselves. The love of money....once condemned....now is used as proof that God has blessed us through Donald Trump. God answered our prayer....but it was the wrong prayer....for what we see as 'success'....is an illusion. God has given us what we wanted....a prince....but in the process He is winnowing His church....and ultimately better preparing us for even a greater deception that is ahead. My gut reaction is that....whether it was conservatism itself or discernment in general....something died last night in that speech and the positive reaction to it from those who should know better....and this as a Super Blue Moon....and a Blood Moon....moved into position." Yes.....a Super Blue Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse would rise in the following night's sky.
So pray if you should feel so inclined.....during that hour tonight....that God would open the eyes of much of our nation....and that many of those watching this event would be blinded to the illusion constructed to deceive and not inform....and that we might wake up the next morning determined to seek what is of eternal value in a world gone mad.
