Many people have known someone like this....they just seem to lie all the time....or they do something else that's not right. Now if it's someone that you really don't know or who is a stranger then you can deal with it easily by trying to ignore them....but more often than not it's a friend or maybe even a family member. So you try your best to give them every chance in the book but they let you down almost every time.
They always....always seem to have an excuse for their actions. You try to remember their better points....maybe you are worried about how this will effect their family.....or maybe you just like them.....but as the years pass....man it gets old....there's really something wrong with them....they've been this way their whole life....and they're not likely to change without some sort of confrontation or intervention.. Folks....this is President Trump and his supporters right now....as I see it anyway.....only they are not anywhere near the 'man this gets old' stage....this because he has successfully turned us against all news...and all books....as 'fake news'....but most of them probably will find out on their own is due course.
Unfortunately the problem can get much worse....for sometimes this person's friend or relative....in this case the ardent Trump supporter......goes into denial themselves. This can particularly happen within a parent/child relationship.....where the parent loves the child so much that they deny the truth and defend the child every time they get in trouble.
A few years ago a prominent member of the Congress who had previously been against same-sex marriage....changed his mind when his son came out as gay. There are more examples such as this in our government....and it's really not unusual at all for a parent to alter a previously strongly held personal belief so as not to drive their child away....but there are better ways to do this....there are better ways to show love. Many conservatives have already compromised key beliefs as it pertains to President Trump....and there are even conservative talk show hosts who seemed to have flipped on issues that once they were passionate about.
As bad as it is....the situation can even get worse....the issues can get more serious....and it can no longer be just a friendship issue. President Trump deals in issues of moving armies and dealing with enemies....enemies who will quickly take advantage of what they know to be be character flaws....and all of a sudden it's not just an issue of where the President's approval polls are....but where the President's mind is at.
