You Won't Know If You Don't Try It

             This preface is from a May 2017 post.....and I thought I would bring it back today....."The Western mind has been slowly covered by a glacier of doubt about anything but it's own intellectual and physical virility. In such a situation you either freeze to death while admiring your image in the ice or find warmth enough to survive. Many of our churches froze to death while others are currently suffering from hypothermia. The congregations that are 'clothed in scarlet' huddle together in fellowship, hearing the Word of God preached and doing their best to bring others in from the cold." 
              I have listened to all kinds of sermons in the past two or three decades....at weddings or while traveling....or on vacation....or on the radio or television or on tape....and I have this to say....there are probably four or five pillars on that which this corrupt and contemptuous nation of ours has reinvented itself. I wouldn't attempt to put them in order....but I will name one of them....we do not know how or even what to preach anymore.....and since that is supposed to be our sustenance.....we are either already dead or dying quickly.....and are no help at all to our nation....as evidenced by the fact that we had recently fallen for a vile and arrogant false prophet. You would not know this unless you know what preaching used to be like....and even there only at times.....and in various places.....but once you know what it can be like....you would recognize what we have today to be weak unto death.
              Jeremiah would tell us to..."seek the old paths"...."where the good way is"....but we're too busy. If you don't believe my theory...test it....just Google up "Spurgeon....or J. C. Ryle sermon YouTube"....invest 40 minutes to an hour. Here is a warning though....if you do listen to these men or men like these men....you will either leave your current church for lack of preaching....or suddenly become persona non grata there. It's not an easy road....but it would be more than worth it....and you will find fellowship on it if you look hard enough.
