I listened to a Charles Spurgeon sermon just this afternoon....where he told a story....of which I don't know the veracity of.....here it is. There was a famine in Rome during the time of Nero....but grain was in good measure in Egypt. Three large vessels took off across the sea....and when they returned.....the people were waiting at the docks for the food. The vessels landed and were filled with sand....for the tyrant had ordered it for the Colosseum gladiators. The orders were....get only sand!
This led into what Spurgeon said that his mission was to only bring food to the people from the pulpit. This has been a very sad day in America. May God have mercy upon us. May pastors take seriously their roles....and beginning tomorrow....feed their sheep. May there be a seriousness and a soberness to them. May we all humble ourselves before our God....and pray mercies and wisdom and discernment in these terrible times that we live in.
