I don't do a daily journal to refer back to. Oh I do a daily log but it is more of an appointments calendar. I guess that these posts would be the closest to a journal. If I were to journal throughout the year....a year ending and new year entry might go something like this...
Lord's Day....January 5, 2025.....1:30 PM....bitter cold outside and about an inch of snow. Sermon today was on Luke 23....praying against temptation. The inauguration is two weeks from tomorrow. Ran into Joseph....(not real name....a church leader from the area)....we exchanged greetings and news from how Christmas went....and then kind of just looked at each other....and commented on Trump. He lamented that a number of people who he has responsibility for....are excited about Trump. He tried to explain to them at the time of the election that we did have a choice....not voting for either of these candidates was a choice.....but they just think that the schools are going to turn around now....and this good thing and that good thing will happen.
It's like watching a Hollywood movie....watching Trump since the election....maybe a movie about pre-WWII Germany....or Bolshevik Russia....where everything was about seizing control....as particularly in Russia where the Bolsheviks were appointed to positions everywhere. There are scenes in Dr. Zhivago....whatever one would do....there was a Bolshevik in charge. All the others either fled or tried to keep quiet....or they were rounded up an put on trial. It's the methods....not the ideologies....the retribution....the confidence in themselves....and the extent of power that the leader demanded....and the new people...acceded to!
Elon Musk....who woulda' thought it? It's hard to even get a grip on. He's out there trying to dictate to foreign governments? And RFK Jr.....actually in charge of something important? And all these appointments being made....political paybacks....a fair number of Hindus....and just today....Tammy Bruce named a spokesperson for the State Department? She goes way....way back....but I don't think evangelicals today know much about her?
This is not like the first inauguration back in 2017. There are few evangelical Christians around. It's only a matter of time until Robert Jeffress and Franklin Graham and others begin to see that they may have made a big mistake.
