A simple Google search on the word 'earthquakes' will show a number of news bulletins released in the past six months by various seismological organizations that show a genuine concern....in a number of areas....for what we have come to refer to as....'the big one,' Right now Russia in its Kamchatka peninsula....is experiencing some concerning trends....and people in a certain area of the Philippines have been panicking over trends. Canada has made news in some of the articles put out....as well as California and Oklahoma. Volcanoes and tsunamis come up in these speculative scientific articles.
A year ago when doing a Google search I would get....facts....today I get opinion. The energy consumption of AI alone is enough to fundamentally change economies....and not for the better.
What yesterday's elections tell us is that not only have we learned nothing as a citizenry in the last decade of Trump....but our ignorance has increased. The president this morning remarked that yesterday's elections were the results of cost of living issues....and that is partially true....but more of an issue is that the people are sick and tired....and just plain sick....of the constant tariff threats and 50 day warnings....and personal attacks....and the Soviet style purging and show trials....and now the willy-nilly bombing of boats to show how strong we are....and the constant stories of people being dragged away by masked men....but we didn't react in the way that we should have reacted. We on our side should have demanded that Republicans in Congress finally stand up to this severely psychologically damaged man in the White House....and those of us on the other side should have demanded better candidates....but instead they doubled down on voting in the very same ideologies that gave us Trump to begin with.
The whole entertainment industry is a horror show....and there is no pun intended there. Sports....well it's really no longer sport....and it is not just a business as we so often hear....but it is a dystopian idol culture all of its own.
The government is giving less money to study hurricanes and geological dangers and pandemics. The White House is being turned into a palace. Blue states and red states are getting further apart. Free speech is disappearing....there essentially is no journalistic news media to speak of that is not solidly biased for one side or the other. Why should people go to Las Vegas when they can gamble on their TV set or go down to the local dairy and play the slots?
I have stated nothing in this post that I haven't posted on before....even numerous times....and what I will conclude this post with is not new either. When....when will the men who accepted the call of God to shepherd flocks that are given to them....when will they start actually shepherding them....and feeding them....and warning them....and protecting them from wolves?
Well....it appears that they are just not going to open their eyes. I keep saying that we are going to have to hit rock bottom....and I keep thinking that we have hit rock....but then we get even worse....and fall even further! I put the following paragraph in a DISPATCHES post from September 4th...."You may have heard it in a movie....for it has been used in a few films....the Latin phrase....Qui Tacet Consentire Videtur....'he who is silent....is said to agree'....or....'silence gives consent.' The pastors around this country just utterly failed us in not warning us. They essentially said nothing....their silence in effect consenting to what this man was doing to evangelicalism."
Not only have our pulpits been silent....and thereby giving consent to what is going on within our own side....but we ourselves in the pews have been silent. We share the blame! There are no Billy Grahams' or John MacArthurs' to warn us anymore. There are no Christian bookstores where we might learn for ourselves....(Tonight I checked the programming on Christian radio and Christian television....and it is very poor in quality....nothing compared to what it was forty years ago)....and there is no preaching that can send us to our knees in mortification and repentance....but there remains God's Word....so won't you open it....as I am doing the same thing....and plead with God for mercy and forgiveness....for not being vigilant....and for not staying awake....and as the centurion told Jesus that He did not have to return home with him to heal his servant.....because he understood authority....may we plead with God in our prayers that if He but says the word....and opens our eyes to read and understand....that we will be healed of this affliction that has ravaged our minds and our faith and our country and our churches!
