That Lord's Day will arrive....sooner rather than later....when in the previous week....America will have experienced....if we are fortunate it would be called a wake-up call....if we are not so fortunate....it would be more of a cataclysmic catastrophe.
That previous week's Lord's Day would most likely have been typical....which in essence means that there was no urgency at all....in anything.
We will enter our sanctuaries on that coming Lord's Day with a sobriety not seen in American sanctuaries in since December of 1941.
None of the sermons that you will hear tomorrow....will be preached on that coming Lord's Day. There will be smiles on that day....oh yes there will be smiles....but not the same category of smiles that will be everywhere tomorrow....and they will be few. They won't be happy....golden retriever smiles....but rather trusting and hopeful smiles....emanating the faith that....'our God is still in control....and our great and glorious Savior and King has left His throne....and along with His army of mighty angels....faces like steel....are holding back their steeds that are chomping at the bit.'
God has sent prophet after prophet for forty years....not half-naked....barefoot....long-haired prophets....carrying signs that read....The End Is Near....not even itinerant tent revivalist preachers....or Whitefields or Wesleys or Bunyans who had to find an open clearing to preach....but nationally known preachers....like Billy Graham in front of a hundred thousand in an arena and millions in front of a TV set....warning us....pleading with us to take our eyes off of the glitter and the gold....and to look off in the distance to the light shining brighter than the sun....and to prepare for the winds that will bring down every house not built on the Rock.
No....tomorrow won't be that Lord's Day....for there is no time to look around and understand what is happening....but maybe next Lord's Day....should that be in His perfect timing....and give Him the glory due to the one who has written on His robe and on His thigh...
