Both Charles Spurgeon and Martyn Lloyd-Jones and I presume J.C. Ryle also would often preach up to three and four times a week....and in the early to mid 1700s.....George Whitefield might preach every day. It was a different world....and a different church. Billy Graham preached almost every night of his three-month long London crusade in 1954. As for my habits....I can't remember the last day....(it has been a few years)....that I had not listened to at least one sermon....usually by the men above....or R. C Sproul or John MacArthur....and more recently Paul Washer and Jesse Johnson have been included.
So it is a Tuesday as I type....Tuesday evening....mid-week....can I encourage you to listen to Martyn Lloyd-Jones? There is a caveat though....if you listen to this sermon....that painting that you are doing in the extra bedroom may be put on hold indefinitely....but then again....I have found that doing simple jobs around the house is a perfect time to listen to sermons!
