Some of the words that I either heard or read from President Trump's speech in Poland were encouraging but the question that I have is twofold.... does President Trump really believe the words he spoke....and does he even understand the words that he spoke? You see.... since this was a speech.....there must have been a speechwriter(s).... but when Ronald Reagan spoke about communism there was no question that not only did he know what he was talking about but he believed what he was saying. We have no such assurance with Donald Trump.
Complicating the problem even further....a Reaganesque speech....whether it comes from the heart or not....will automatically strengthen the standing that the president has with conservatives. In other words it will give him further leeway to pursue establishment goals in both foreign and domestic policies.
White House deputy assistant to the president Dr. Sebastian Gorka gave a very candid remark about President Trump's speeches on this morning's Breitbart radio program on SiriusXM. I want to describe Dr. Gorka's comment as accurately as I can....he seemed to say that President Trump will have the speech given to him in hand....but may tweek it a little on his own. I've noticed this before and this tweeking is not hard to identify because the president's word choices and phrase construction are more recognizable to the Donald Trump that we are most familiar with. I'm not saying that this is bad that President Trump does not just...read...a speech. What I am implying is that we might purposely look for these moments.....for they.....more than the speech given to him....may tell us more clearly what the president actually believes.
Why do I write a post such as this? It's is my belief that if Donald Trump was given a small essay test and asked to write one paragraph on Communism...he would struggle. He's never been a reader on anything except making money. That those words on Western Civilization were flashed all over Europe is good for they needed to hear it. Today we had an energy company former CEO and a former international real estate developer meeting in private with Vladimir Putin and the Russian Foreign Minister. I'm not concerned with the intellects involved.....I'm concerned that President Trump and Secretary of State Tillerson did not have a representative of those who put him in office in that meeting. We...and conservative leaders in our Congress...only have their word as to what was discussed.
