Will You Say His Name?

Preying Hands

As I was sitting here working on a new post....I sat back in my chair for a moment to see if there is anything new on Drudge. The photo at the top of the Drudge Report is one of the back of the President with praying hands all over it! The article is from London's Daily Mail. According to a Facebook post from a travelling South African evangelist now a pastor in the United States....Rodney Howard-Browne......according to his Facebook post he was in the Oval Office on Monday. I've been familiar with him for many years....the 1990s actually.... since he was heavily involved in the absurdity of "holy laughter' in the church. Who let him in? Oh....I see....Donald's one time spiritual mentor ...Pastor Paula White-Cain invited him.....that explains a lot.
Folks....we've got trouble if this is the evangelizing that Donald Trump is getting! I would be every surprised if we do not hear a lot more about this meeting.....hopefully it was just another photo op meant for evangelicals that they didn't expect to wind up on Drudge.....but sadly Vice President Mike Pence is in one of the pictures partaking in this nonsense. The last thing that President Trump needs is to have people tell him that God is using him to restore America to 'greatness.'

I dreamed a dream....if only twas not a dream....

Trump:      Reverend Jones, nice to meet you. I understand that the Melania took you on a little tour.
I hope that you enjoyed it?
Jones:       Very much Mr. President, and thank you very much for allowing me this time with you!
Trump:      I will always have time for my evangelical friends who helped me so much in my
campaign....and I always enjoy my time with them.
Jones:       Mr. President, I don't quite know why I was picked by the ministerium when you
extended the invitation to come for a chat and a visit but I'm going to....should the Lord
will it....make the best of it.
Trump:     It's always nice to hear about God.
Jones:       I'll get right to it if it's OK with you Mr. President?
Trump:     Go right ahead.
Jones:       Sir you stand right now in condemnation just like every person born into this world. You
are 71 years old and will stand before a Holy God in the not very distant future.Yes I'm here
because of your gracious invitation but God directed that invitation. His command to you
is to repent and to follow Him.

pause.... as President Trump sits back in his chair in the Oval Office. He glances at his watch...

Trump:      Well I am a very busy man as you know. I have always known that I am not perfect. I
assume that you are not perfect either?

pause.... as Pastor Jones stares intently and compassionately into the eyes of the President of the
United States....wondering if the visit will go on....

Jones:        Mr. President there is no indication to those of us who have read voluminously on your
life....and have followed events in the newspaper since you became our president...there
is no indication that you have ever heard the gospel of Jesus Christ presented to you....
and presented directed to you personally.....in the form of a command.
Trump:       I believe that I have made my peace with God Reverend Jones. We can't all relate to God
                  as you do.
Jones:        Sir....I have never heard you say the word Jesus.....or read of where you mentioned
His name. Will you do that for me here? Would you pronounce the name of Jesus Mr.
                  President?

pause....as the president glances again at his watch....

Trump:       Reverend Jones...I don't like to presume upon God in such a manner. I never wear my
                  religion on my sleeve.
Jones:        There is a fear of that name within you Mr. President. It is not uncommon. The word God
can be all-inclusive.....it can be mentioned with no threat of guilt or judgment. If you
would but mention the name of Jesus I will be on my way and keep our conversation
                  private.
Trump:       Private....Reverend Jones? You know.....I think that I believe you on that.

long pause....as the president stands up and walks over to the window overlooking the Rose Garden

Trump:       I have always had difficulty mentioning that name Reverend Jones......(long pause)

Reverend Jones interjects....

Jones:         You are a busy man Mr. President.

pause....as Reverend Jones looks at his watch....

Jones:        I am before you here in acknowledgment that you have great responsibilities
I don't in any way revere you sir but I hope to give you the honor that you deserve
in your position. Christ Jesus deserves and commands no less respect and honor.
Failing to even address Him is failing to honor Him.

pause....as the Reverend Jones stands and gently slides the chair back to its original position...

Jones:        You have sinned against a Holy God Mr. President as everyone has. You stand in
judgment without any hope whatsoever apart from He who voluntarily suffered
crucifixion that you might use that name and call out to Him. He broke the bonds of death
three days later.... and He....no respecter of persons....neither presidents or citizens....kings
or slaves....will come again to judge between the sheep and the goats. if you are ashamed
of His name is this life...He will be ashamed of you at the judgment. Humble yourself Mr.
President. You have great wealth and great responsibilities. You will be held accountable
                 for both.

Reverend Jones offered his hand but the president didn't take it. The reverend turned to the door as
the President of the United States interrupted him....

Trump:       Reverend Jones....I will at least think about what you have said.

pause....as the President walks out from behind his desk and extends his own hand.

Trump:       There are many voices all around me Reverend Jones....always has been. How do I know
that you know what you are talking about?

pause....as Reverend Jones looks around the Oval Office.

Jones:         Is there a Bible here Mr. President?

Trump:      No....not in this office....but I have one.

Jones:        Mr. President....if you open that Bible with the same humility that you just extended to me
by offering me your hand...you will recognize the voice of the One within who wrote it.
He will give you discernment on those voices.

A slight knock was heard on the door and the president reached behind Reverend Jones to open it, where a member of President Trump's staff was waiting.

Jones:        Mr. President....there's a passage in the book of Revelation....."Behold, I stand at the door
and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him,
                  and he with me."

pause....as Reverend Jones took a step to the door to leave before turning towards the president again.

Jones:        Do you by any chance know who made that statement Mr.President?

President Trump now looked intently into the eyes of Reverend Jones....

Trump:      Jesus.....Christ Jesus!

as Reverend Jones turned to leave, President Trump offered one more comment....

Trump        Oh Reverend Jones...I think that I may know why your ministerium chose you!

Nothing more was said as both men smiled before parting.

Note: My message in this post is a question. Has anyone presented the gospel to Donald Trump in the form of a command....or has he only heard it as a gentle suggestion given to a very well-known person....a person of great importance?
