It is the single-most powerful form of narrative manipulation that I may have ever witnessed in my entire life. It would be a marvelous thing to behold if this were only media studies. Folks....please sit back and at least consider that if what I describe here is accurate....would it not be possible that our abilities to critical analyse have been tainted by two years running now by one-sided opinion that serves more to mold and guide....and more to obscure for political purposes....than to supply a listening audience with information in order to come to its own conclusion.
The listener tunes in.....concerned on a daily basis over issues that have cropped up in the past twenty-four hours in the news.....concerns over the faithfulness of President Trump as to who he said that he was in the primaries.....Rush immediately begins with a jovial.....jocular....sometimes jubilant welcome into Donald Trump's world. All of the concerns previously held by the listener slowly fade away with every passing minute of persuasive attacks from a charismatic icon on the craziness of the Left. An hour goes by and the concerns held at the start are gone....replaced by anger at what the Left is doing to us. A second hour passed and that anger spreads to any and all who really are nothing more than traitors if they join in with the hated Left in attacks.....hateful attacks....on one so victimized as Donald John Trump. They're all Trump haters....no matter if they spent their last thirty years opposing both the Progressives and the Republican establishment....no matter if they were instrumental in candidate Trump's win....they are all never-Trumpers now. A third hour and the entire show passes and we know all about a man who a few days previous we had never heard of his name....(Smollett)....or of Bernie Sanders insanity....or of Robert Mueller's Deep State coup. None of the listener's original concerns will even be alluded to. These three hours alone will suffice to snuff out any embers of concern....even mild concern over President Trump's odd decision-making....but Sean Hannity will continue just in case....and then Mark Levin will continue to pound nails in the coffin of critical analysis of President Trump....and then send us off to prepare for bed....secure in our mission....follow and don't ask probing questions....but only questions contemporaneous to the accepted narrative....that advances the accepted agenda determined by those who flatter us with their words....but who must work hard to keep us motivated and on the proper course.
