RFK was on the one hand tough as nails....yet he despised Roy Cohn for the way that he treated people....(Cohn was Donald Trump's mentor ...."Where's my Roy Cohn?"....and in a way hero)....but along with being tough Bobby Kennedy was the most compassionate politician of whom I have ever read....whereas Donald Trump is not capable of empathy or compassion.....70+ books on Trump that I've read made this perfectly clear. Ethically he is a monster. The day that a second term would be assured is the day that he would no longer need evangelicals who fell for his false teachings.
My father would have been 99 years old today....June 2. He died on the same day that hostages were taken for 444 days in Iran....and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. He was raised on the same patch of land a few miles southeast of Pittsburgh where British General Edward Braddock's 'Expedition'....with George Washington....was decimated....suffering over 500 dead and almost as many wounded. It was a prosperous shopping community in my father's day....supporting the steel mills next to it....and its community in turn supported by the first Carnegie Library built in the United States. I return to it occasionally....saddened at the boarded up storefronts.
Barnes & Noble opened up and I finally had the opportunity to partake in my life's main hobby....going into bookstores. A few years ago I reviewed and made a pretty big deal about a book on life in Petrograd (St. Petersburg) in 1917 as the Bolsheviks forcefully pushed aside the more moderate elements of the Russian Revolution. I highly recommend Helen Rappaport's Caught In The Revolution....as this was where the Left in America was taking us. Right now.....as Donald Trump is in the midst of a purge of political 'enemies'....and is attempting to consolidate and usurp powers....and as he relies on that significant element in his support that considers defending his words and actions to be no less than defending the United States of America itself....I'm reading a similar book. I'm on page 97....reading about as slow as humanly possible....because of the striking similarities to where we are today....on yet another movement that forcefully pushed aside more moderate elements. It's the end of the Weimar Republic in this book....Hitler's First Hundred Days....When Germans Embraced the Third Reich.....by Peter Fritzsche. Much of Germany....whether they were communists or socialists or republicans....were petrified at the mere thought of Hitler as chancellor....but nationalism had blinded the other side. This is not Hitler's maniacal and murderous ideology that we are dealing with today....although Donald Trump's vacuous mind is disturbing....but there are similarities in psychological manipulation....hero worship....and scents of fatherland over a constitutional republic. Both of these movements....socialism on one side and Donald Trump on the other...are judgments on America from God. Evangelicalism needs to back away from this man before they follow in the footsteps of the German church. There is a way to love our country and be patriotic and determined....and not be taken in by maleficent forces.
The scene in the film is a serene setting....on a beautiful day....at what looked to be an outdoor cafe. The face and tenor voice from the young singer was almost angelic. The lyrics are of a summer day.....with a babe in a cradle and a bee on the blossom....but midway through the song the face agonizes just a bit....and others in the crowd join in....and then it becomes more of a patriotic rally song. If you Google it once....Tomorrow Belongs To Me....you will probably listen again. It is the most chilling and haunting movie scene that I can recall....and without a harsh word. The film is Cabaret from 1972. Actor Michael York watches with a gentleman friend.....the transformation of the song and the crowd....and as they leave he asks his companion...."Do you still think you can control them?" If I had the chance I would ask one question of Vice President Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo...."Do you still think you can control him?" Folks....I'm not referring at all to ideology here....rather human nature....and passions....and one disturbingly troubled man.
DONALD TRUMP AND TWITTER....Donald Trump upgraded the threats towards Twitter and presumably all social media after it responded to his continued insinuations that a mainstream media host once may have committed a murder....meanwhile....his own talk radio is now pure unadulterated propaganda....without any challenging opinion heard from the other side....in effect partaking in the same strategies that does social media. It is very rare for a caller to in any way criticize anything that Donald Trump might do.
Update: We on the 'Right' are dominated by talk radio....particularly Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin and Breitbart. Whereas once it was our best source of news....today it is bondage....where we are given only half of the information....(the other half censored)....restricted in our participation....overwhelmed by the promulgation of Donald Trump's embellishments and outright lies....all the while instilling hate....(read some of the comment sections on news articles)....and not only enabling but encouraging Trump to further test his powers. RUSH LIMBAUGH....yesterday Rush gave a detailed description of how he was handling his illness and its treatment. It was courageous and daunting even to listen to....and he is to be applauded with great respect for this....but not worshiped. I have been a talk radio listener for one half a century. No one.....no one has ever had Rush's ability to convince others to his side of the argument. This special talent....(but not from "GAW.....Duh")....has even upped his own bar of effectiveness....as he defends President Donald Trump. Yesterday Rush emphasized how he truly "knows" Donald Trump....and went on.....as he often does.....in great detail on the life and the legend and the character of the man. It was adulatory to the extreme....and all wrong. I doubt very much that Rush has ever allowed the other side of Trump's life.....including his decades long involvement with Russian money....into his data bank of information. As Rush deliberately described Donald Trump's greatness....in detail....the arguments could be turned upside down.....simply by expanding on the information....but you will never hear this information on the show....the result of it all being that Rush's true abilities are now used for ill and not for good.

After reading seventy books on Donald Trump since it became obvious in March of 2017 that he was not who he said that he was during the primaries and general election....(as I type I'm sitting here reading yet another)....I just had to take a short break.....look out the window upon a gorgeous 70 degree evening....finally....and type this mea culpa....as I once again wonder in amazement and some shame how little I knew of this man for whom I had cast my vote....and celebrated! Hillary or no Hillary....if I knew then what I know now....I could not have brought myself to add one vote towards giving this man the reigns of power in our government. I would have typed in the name of someone else.
Try as I have....I cannot quite grasp the love that Democrats held for President Franklin Roosevelt....even though my mother would tell me how her father loved him. I do understand what they felt for JFK....for I was one of them....albeit in my teens. I also know very well the love for Ronald Reagan....for I was one of them also. I even had a very warm feeling for Jimmy Carter. These posts are viewed by as many people outside the United States as my brothers and sisters in Christ....and fellow citizens....right here in America. This probably because Democrats have little interest in the emphasis on being born again even though they would agree with the warnings on Donald Trump.....and Republicans have jettisoned ethics and truth to support a demagogue....while evangelicals have been duped by a false prophet. Trump just teaches us how to cheat better....and his whole life has just ripped open and and torn apart everything that comes into his orbit....leaving damaged careers behind him....as he looks for more people to step on as he tries to elevate himself.
President James Mattis?....There has to be extraordinary pressure on Joe Biden to drop out of the race because of how his mind is slipping....and he probably would have by now except all the alternatives seem to be of the nouveau radical chic variety. One possibility would be for the Democrats to turn to a retired general. Donald Trump famously called General James Mattis a Democrat....so that settles that problem....and more recently....in October of last year.....said that Mattis was....."the world's most overrated general"....which means that he is sane and intelligent. Donald Trump has fired another inspector general.....because as he says....of his people...."It's vital to have the fullest confidence." A word of caution to Pompeo and Pence and others....Stalin eventually got rid of everyone....even the ones that were afraid of him....if he didn't have his version of....'fullest confidence'.....in them. So we wind up living in denial....pathetically ignoring the truth all around us.
This is not politics. Howard Stern is no friend to Christianity in America....but these people....primarily in entertainment and in New York....have known all along who Donald Trump is....and for decades they enjoyed it as just one more interesting splotch on their collage of life....but now they find themselves in the situation of recognizing him for who he is....but totally unable to reach out with a warning to their more traditional counterparts in American society.....this because of the rifts and the valleys and the crevices that they themselves have hewn out over decades as they flaunted the lifestyles of the Donald Trumps of their culture.....never realizing that payment would one day be due.
President Trump tweeted (a few hours) ago....."....and all those innocent lives lost!" The topic was China....and those were fake tears. What about all the "innocent lives" lost at the hands of Russian criminals that he not only had no problem dealing with.....but went out of his way to do so because they had all that sudden money after the fall of the Eastern Bloc? Does President Trump have the same concern for the people of the Ukraine? Paul Manafort was released today because of the virus....to spend the remaining time at home. Michael Cohen was to be released then after he talked about writing a book....his release was put in review?
