I swear that you're an angel
Sent to this world
What did I do right to deserve you, girl?
I could stay here forever
I'd be fine if we never
Had to even leave this room
Everybody's talking 'bout heaven
Like they just can't wait to go
Saying how it's gonna be so good, so beautiful
Lying next to you
In this bed with you
I ain't convinced
'Cause I don't know how, I don't know how heaven,
Could be better than this
I don't know anything about Kane Brown...but it's like the post below this where since I wrote his name in a post.....every time I hear it on the radio from now on....(my wife listens to country all the time).....the name Kane Brown will stick out.
I think that there was another song long ago with the lyrics...."I learned about love in the back of a pickup truck"....or something like that.....well that wasn't me. I learned about loved from Hollywood....and everything I learned was wrong.
I wrote about love in that short novella that is linked to the upper left of this page....Isaac Crockett....Novella About A Young Protestant Man And A Young Catholic Girl Who Fall In Love. I think I got it right there. In fact I know I got it right there....but this post is not about love between a man and a woman.
I would say that Jacob loved Rachel wouldn't you....after reading about what he had to go through to have Rachel as his wife? David love Bathsheba....but there's something to be learned there. Peter was one of the Apostles that was married and we don't even know her name. Luther had his 'Kitty.' Jonathan Edwards had his Sarah. Charles Surgeon had his Susannah. R. C. Sproul had his Vesta....and Jim Elliot....the martyred missionary to the Auca's....had his Elisabeth.....Elisabeth Elliot....who had her husband.
This post is not about that kind of love. It's not even about love for your neighbor. It is about a love that should transcend absolutely everything. Everyone mentioned here....from the fictitious Isaac Crockett and Anne....to Jacob and David and Peter and and Luther and Jonathan Edwards and R. C. Sproul and Jim and Elisabeth Elliot....loved their Savior....and from that love came love for their wives....and their neighbor. That country song is a lesson if we accept it. The country singer is not "convinced" about heaven because he has no concept of the love for Christ....or the love that Christ has for those who are His....because he has no concept of who Jesus Christ is!
Is this a picayune topic? The church is in the state that it is in....and therefore the country is in the state that it is in....because we have long ago ignored or not been aware of this picayune topic. That is why I consistently....and fervently....praying over these posts....and for every reader who shows up....recommend....no urgently plead that readers would go to what I call.....'Preachers of the past....(Spurgeon and Martyn Lloyd-Jones)....and preachers today who preach like preachers of the past....(Piper and MacArthur and Sproul)....that they might hear....(we are not hearing this in our pulpits today!)....that we might hear of the glories and majesty of such a wonderful and loving yet just and righteous Savior and King!
Note: I was thinking about doing a post on this topic while in bed this morning....but decided not to....and then came down to that country song on the radio....(never paid attention to the song before....or the singer's name).....and changed my mind.
