The speech was on my computer as I did other things....but it was muted. I did just now....5:00 in the morning....read through the transcript....three times. Thirty years ago....during the Clinton administration....Republican women were the strength of the party....certainly the most vocal....as the men mostly just sat there. Today as I watched Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene and Nancy Mace....three prominent MAGA congresswomen....positioning themselves right on the aisle in order to grovel before Trump as he entered the hall....I lamented how women have now become the weakest link in the party.
One Democrat congresswoman was at the end of the other side of the aisle...looking straight ahead quietly....just holding a small sign that said...."This is not normal." That was her form of free speech. A male Republican congressman lurched across the aisle and grabbed her....free speech! Please take note of that folks....paraphrasing Martin Niemoller's famous poetic prose....'then they came for those holding signs....and I said nothing....then they came for those who did not stand to pay tribute....and I said nothing....then they came for me....and there was no one to hear what I said.'
Another Democrat....Al Green....stood up and vocally protested Medicaid cuts. He was rightfully escorted out of the hall....but he was the bravest person of all the government officials. The Democrats en masse protested by getting up to leave before Trump finished. They should have done this an hour and a half earlier.
As for the speech itself....Trump no longer seems worried about how absurd his speeches are. I prayed during the day...and during the speech....that God would....all over America....separate the goats from the sheep....making clear His remnant....by opening the eyes of His children to who this man really is.
Update: You can add Pan Bondi and Karoline Leavitt and Tulsi Gabbard and Kristi Noem....to the Republican women list. Noem recently wore a $50,000 watch....while looking like a fashion model....on a visit to an El Salvador prison....and within the past few days was photographed in protective armor holding an automatic weapon with the barrel pointing to the head of the man next to her.
