I've given this advice before. All of us need at one time or another the warnings from Jeremiah.....because he....(actually Baruch taking dictation from Jeremiah....as Jeremiah hears from the LORD)....he is speaking to America and the West every bit as much as he was speaking to Jerusalem and Judah....but this is a long book....fifty-two chapters....and they were not....(only God knows the reason right now)....they were not compiled chronologically!
So I recommend that the new reader start with Jeremiah chapter four....and read through chapter nine....slowly....taking days if not a couple of weeks to do this....praying over every passage....and substituting at times....America....for Jerusalem or Judah!
Actually....read a couple of verses in chapter six first. Start with verse thirteen....and think of us....our leaders and our pastors.....all of us....and then concentrate on what the middle of verse fifteen says to us....
"Were they....(all of us)....ashamed when they had committed abomination? No!....(folks none of us are ashamed at what we have corporately and individual become)....They were not at all ashamed; Nor did they know how to blush." (emphasis mine) (Jeremiah repeats all of this warning in chapter eight?)
That's it folks....as I look all around....from nonbelievers....to evangelicals....to national ministers....and to all those in our government....none of us knows how to blush anymore. We on our side blame it all on Democrats....but we all built this entertainment culture that has no real need for God....and it's the MAGA people that brought pride and greed and a lack of compassion into it.
Malachi said that the people were always saying to God...."Me? What did I do?"...and God would tell them that they were fooling themselves....and that their sacrifices were a sham. That's what we in evangelicalism are doing...."Us? What did we do wrong? We brought in Trump!" And God is as if saying...."That's right.....you brought in a false prophet who tells you the exact opposite that My Word tells you....because that is what you wanted to hear!"
