It's a pretty natural condition among humans in that we really don't want bad news on what might be in the future. Take me for instance. Maybe two years ago I noticed that a bald spot was appearing in that bald spot zone that appears on the back of some men's heads. It bothered me just a little.....so I haven't looked in two mirrors at the back of head since. Wallah....problem solved.....if I don't look.....it's not getting worse. I have no idea what's going on back there.....and don't tell me. I don't want any emails or texts saying....."IT'S GROWING!"
So it's very natural also that unbelievers or pretend believers do not want to hear anything about God judging America....but even Christians do not want to hear about it. I don't blame them. If you believe that a rapture is taking us out at any moment then it's not really a big deal.....the worst that can happen is that lifetime membership at the Y will go to waste.....but if you are one that thinks that the saints being taken up comes after a whole lot of tribulation....whether you call it 'great' tribulation or not.....well.....you would probably say...."I'd rather not hear about it....God's in control."
God indeed is in control. He told Paul to tell the Thessalonians...."in advance"....that there would be some tough times ahead. But then again that was the Thessalonian believers......we're American believers....nothing gonna happen to us other than maybe a big market collapse which means which sets our plans back a little.
Here are some helpful hints to avoid stress:
1) Don't read the Drudge Report
2) Greet each other with a holy...."God bless America"
3) Remember this adage....an hour of Rush a day keeps the worries away
4) Make this your hope...next year at the Super Bowl...next year at the Super Bowl...next year etc
5) Find a church that has a ministry for you....it'll keep you from getting bored
6) Find a preacher who likes to preach a whole year on the Sermon On The Mount
7) Show wisdom and humility on your Facebook page....it's impossible to do....but with God all things are possible
8) Hum that Bobby McFerrin hymn when people like me come around.....'Don't Worry, Be Happy'
