------The Roy Moore Trial.....And Tribulation

In what is highly unusual for me I paid no attention to the results in the Alabama Senate race as they came in. I usually sit at the computer analyzing the county returns. I just checked this moment, around twenty minutes to midnight, and saw that Roy Moore had lost.....as of now anyway.
In July of 1925 the Scopes Monkey trial attracted the attention of America much like the Roy Moore's candidacy has. William Jennings Bryan argued for the prosecution. Near the end of the trial Clarence Darrow called Bryan to the stand and, in the eyes of the reporters and as represented in the media, totally humiliated him with rapid-fire questions about the Bible that Bryan was not prepared in life to answer. Scopes was found guilty but that only served to stir up the rancor of the northern elites who ridiculed the 'moronic' Christians who actually believed things like Jonah and the Whale. Fundamentalism suffered a serious defeat. William Jennings Bryan died while taking an afternoon nap five days after the trial ended.
The die was already cast in the Senate Race. Roy Moore was going to be held up to constant ridicule and worse if he took a seat in the Senate. I felt pain for him in even thinking about it.  I prayed for God's will....and that He would protect and bless Roy Moore through it and after it.
As for America? Alabama....this supposed bastion of Bible Christianity.....well....Doug Jones voters know exactly who he is and what he supports. I knew months ago that even a close race in this Bible Belt state would be very telling on where America truly is today. America was at one time a great nation....until its people in large numbers abandoned the Biblical Faith. Today we are but a remnant wrapped not in the Constitution but in the Humanist Manifesto....utterly divided....and a house divided cannot stand. Communists are singing The Internationale tonight while globalists dance to the Ode To Joy...the Anthem of Europe...from Beethoven's 9th.
Even with all of this I still wanted Roy Moore to win....to be a Christian vote in the Senate....but whereas the Scopes verdict 'victory' turned out to be a defeat for Bible-believing Christians.....Moore's apparent 'defeat' may turn out to be a victory for Bible-believing Christians. Maybe it will wake some of the pulpits up.....maybe it will turn some Christians back to the Word of God. Either way it is God's will! No....there's no hoedown in Alabama tonight......but maybe a lot more prayer meetings than usual!
