"San Francisco......Open Your Golden Gate...."

The movie was released in June of 1936....San Francisco....with Clark Gable and Jeanette MacDonald and Spencer Tracy. It was in all the theaters as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin were held. I'm building this post around it....not because of what was going on in 1936....but more what has been goes on in America. Folks....this film is almost ninety years old...and the special effects on the earthquake are as effective as anything they could do today....but my point is that at the beginning of this clip....the crowd is just having a great time. I used to like Dixieland Jazz music....and many times I would be raising beer to the song....oblivious to my eternal soul. The one-mile strait is the actual Golden Gate. The Golden Gate bridge construction was begun in 1933....and was completed in May of 1937...so it wasn't even completed as the movie San Francisco was released.
