Young Man....Is This Post For You?

Ok....here's the situation. You are a young man....(woman)....and a predicament has come upon you where you were required to attend a church service....maybe it was a funeral or a wedding....and you entered in the sanctuary and sat down in an end seat near the rear where you thought that you would be safe....and able to leave if the opportunity presented itself....but others came in and smiled and motioned to you to kindly slide over. You were now trapped and would have to stay for the entire service.
There was some singing....and a prayer was offered that not a word of which meant anything to you....and then this old man walked....or shuffled up from the front row to the pulpit. You were expecting a guy bubbling over with joy and a smile that would make Aspen Dental proud....at least wearing a suit and shoes that you could admire while he rambled on....but no....you got a guy that looks like Mark Twain. Well...maybe he'll turn out to be a  Mark Twain and keep the church in stitches.
It only took a few minutes to see that that was not going to be the case....and you were bored five minutes into the.....sermon....but a few words did eventually catch your attention....as the sermon was directed to....some young man like yourself....any young man like yourself.....mentioning the young man's mother....something that made you squirm a little in the pew. Fifteen minutes into it and you were actually listening....and this older man with some kind of British accent....where did they get him from....seemed to be talking to you! Indeed....you looked down at the bulletin that was handed you....and the title of the sermon was...."Young Man....Is This For You?"
The following is a YouTube of a sermon given on January 15, 1888....by Charles Haddon Spurgeon....at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London on the south side of the River Thames. My wife and son and I attended a worship service there on Easter Sunday 2001. You are not....as the young man in this post....hemmed in with no way to escape....but my prayer is that you will at least listen to the sermon all the way to the end!
