I would be surprised if you ever heard this argument before....put quite like this. I don't even know if I can make it appear to make sense to you. The core issue is this....I'll use the exact words that I was telling a friend a few days ago....'we don't have to be born again anymore."
There are a number of ways to describe it. One would be....'the dead heart begins to beat.' Another would be....'the stone heart is removed....and a new heart is given.' However you might describe it....being born again....whenever that happens....and whether or not we even know it....it is a monumental miracle! It is the reason that Jesus was born! It is the reason that He went to the cross! The Son of God was tortured and crucified....did you get that....the Son of God was tortured and crucified....to pull you from hell....if you are a Christian.
Arminian theology has modified the miracle....and made it so that it is hardly recognizable. It tells us that we choose to be Christian....we do something. God's Word tells us that we do not choose to be saved. We have no ability to choose anything like that. We are fallen creatures. God has to intervene. He chooses. He regenerates the heart. He then calls. The soul that prior to regeneration....could not possibly choose to believe.....now....having been given a new heart....cannot possibly refuse to believe!!!!!
The non-Arminian.....at least knows that they were headed to perdition....and deservingly so.....and for some reason known only to God....they were chosen for regeneration! Do you not see the difference? If you do....are you not shaken to the very core? Let me put it this way....if you are not shaken to the core....then you cannot possibly see the totality of what Jesus of Nazareth....the very Son of God....has done....lowering Himself to be one of us....and voluntarily offering Himself up for....crucifixion....in order that you....and I....might be given....mercy!
How do you react to that....or how would you react to that if you believed it? What's the Steeler's schedule like this year? Something is terribly wrong here. This new Christianity of today doesn't understand the impact of what Christ did! I don't have the words to convict you of what the modern faith has turned into....but you do! If you would but meditate on this....think about hell....you are there....someone yanks you out of there....and gives you eternal life! Think about the Son of God in agony....for what....so that you can burst a blood vessel in your eye shouting for your favorite team? You have the words if you would only consider the logic in what has happened.
We in the church....particularly pastors....are fierce defenders....of our right to happiness....and our future! We are the center. Jesus did it all for us....but Jesus did not do it all for us! He did it so that He might receive the glory that is His! We are to enjoy....God.....not ourselves! To the reader that utterly disagrees with what I write....if you would at least consider this....and through your own meditation come to see something is wrong here....that what happened on Calvary does not jive with what is normal Christianity to us today....then you might just come to see....through the fog of our own minds....the monumental miracle in what happens when a soul is saved....as angels rejoice. And you might be driven to you knees in thanksgiving....and for the first time....properly....behold His glory!
