I posted these words in 2009 after reading....SUPERCLASS The Global Power Elite and the World They are Making by David Rothkopf...."the author is making the point that this elite that has developed are bonded together, almost as family. Their connectedness is such that they often act in unison because they are part of each other's social lives. They live in a world of finance above the realm we live in. Most disturbingly, he (Rothkopf) can see this economic force transcending even governments in dictating the direction the economies will go."
I posted on another book at the same time.....David M. Smick's.....THE WORLD IS CURVED Hidden Dangers to the Global Economy. Written in response to Thomas Friedman's bestseller....The World Is Flat....Smick described....as I wrote at the time...."a curved world where the economies of the world are so tightly woven together that financial decisions have too many global effects to predict accurately, thus the world is "curved" and we cannot see beyond the horizon."These multi-billionaires....these elites…..these royals....live in a luxury that we might be able to get a glimpse of in a movie....but never really even come close to understanding this world of money and power that is their world. As Rothkopf said....it is almost as if they are family....with their own language and their own set of morals. They are not going to give this up. They are not going to be forced to live in the world of the little people. So as the decades pass....and even centuries....they deal as best as they can with ideologies and governments and wars. Sometimes they lose money....sometimes even power....but they have never lost the world where they are the superclass....that is until now....when that is being threatened. People like Putin....and issues like China/Taiwan....this in a nuclear age that may very well use nuclear weapons....maybe even the smaller variety....these are genuine threats to the elites....and thus to them there is really only one answer....they still....sooner or later....and it looks like sooner.....must have a one-world government.
A half century ago evangelical prophecy teachers started in earnest writing on this....'one-world government' or 'new world order' that the Bible speaks about....and of course they were laughed at. They wrote and taught about that mysterious number....666....on the hand and or the forehead....and everyone laughed. Yes they speculated beyond what God's Word described....and they were wrong on many things.....as we all are....but the fact remains that the world we see before us in 2023....is largely the world that we were warned of fifty years ago.....and yet although we may not laugh anymore....we still smirk.
The long and short of it is that God's Word has given us enough information on the world at the Second Coming to sit back now in soberness and prepare. Our Bible studies should be addressing these issues. What is this....Antichrist....that is coming....are there any possible candidates....what might be this.....'great delusion' that is coming? We don't do this today out of fear.....fear that our ignorance up till now might be on display for everyone to see. It is essentially....'keeping up appearances"...that drives us....particularly for pastors. They were the ones that were supposed to be in the know....but it turns out that their seminary diplomas really didn't mean that much. They are going to be forced to look back on their ministries where they didn't even know how to preach Christ.
Tomorrow is what the church celebrates as Pentecost....the Jewish people are now celebrating it in their Feast of Weeks. Should God will it....should it be to His glory alone....may His Holy Spirit come in power on tomorrow's Lord's Day. May even today our pastors....sleeping shepherds....be awakened to the task that is before them. May God have mercy upon them and bless them....and thus have mercy upon us and bless us.....and all for His glory and His inimitable name!
