Just about every major news source has picked it up by now....they all seem to describe the scientific calculations a little bit different....but for my purposes here....suffice it to say that a light....brightness....the result of a stellar explosion....had been spotted....this beginning about three years ago....that is ten times greater than the brightest light ever recorded so far. It's exciting news in the field of astronomy. To get the specifics all you have to do is Google....'brightest light spotted'....or something similar.
It may have been thirty-five years ago....before the Internet....when we had something called....newspapers....that I was always cutting out articles on anything of interest. I detected something at the time....mulled over a plan....and wish that I had followed through with it. A science article....on some great discovery....in any scientific field....would report something like this....."They will have to rewrite the textbooks." After seeing this type of phraseology maybe a dozen times....I thought that I should begin collecting the articles where science admitted it previously had something wrong....but I never did. My point is that science will tell us something today....in fact does so all the time....that it declares as an absolute fact. That's fine....there are probably hundreds of thousands of 'absolute facts' out there....but every so often they discover something that proves a previous 'absolute fact' or theory wrong. They celebrate this....which also is fine....that's where the 'textbooks will have to rewritten' comes in....but they never....ever....acknowledge that maybe they ought to be just a little more humble in their scientific teaching.
I once did a little research project on my own....this at least twenty-five years ago....as I worked in a power plant. I researched various scientists over the centuries that discovered anything really....physics or chemistry....that was part and parcel of all the science in generating electricity....and I found that most of these men were believers in God....many Christians....and some like Isaac Newton....devout Christian believers in God. Yet somehow today....science belittles belief in God or believing scientists?
I had posted all of the above before....and I still haven't got to my main point in this post. When I first read the latest news on the brightest light ever detected....ten times brighter than anything else....I immediately thought about God....who according to Paul's words to Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:16...."dwells in unapproachable light."
I expect that when the King of Kings nears on His approach in His return in power and glory and righteous judgment....with His mighty army of angels....that the first thing scientists will detect is the light....the unapproachable light.
Note: In one of the articles that I read on this 'brightest light flash ever seen'....it was noted that previous to the discovery it was thought not possible to have such a bright light. There is very little interest in the warnings that I give in these posts....which are nothing but the warnings that God had given us in His word throughout the entire Bible. My hope here is that....like the bright light discovered that was not thought possible....causing scientists to reconsider on what they previously thought to be true....that when these judgments become so intense that we simply cannot ignore them any longer....that pastors....might as the scientists....admit that maybe some things in their seminary textbooks might have to be revised.
Addendum: One of the most famous science fiction movies of all time is....The Thing! That's what we knew it as back then....the full title is The Thing From Another World....with James Arness as....the thing. There have been remakes. There is also a rather famous quote from the end of that film....after the Thing was destroyed....as a journalist spoke into a broadcast microphone going all around America and maybe the world....he said...."Every one of you listening to my voice, tell the world, tell this to everybody wherever they are. Watch the skies. Everywhere. Keep looking. Keep watching the skies." I wrote a very short story back in 2017 that I titled....Keep Watching The Skies.....and I brought it up for a while to go with this post. You can see it in the links at the left.
