John Piper has been and is one of the stalwarts in the Christian Faith that God has blessed His church with over the past century. He has contributed with his sermons and his books and his conference talks particularly to our Christian youth and his fellow ministers. He is known for what he himself labeled.....Christian Hedonism. I personally do not like the term although it is perfectly true.
John Piper's chief gift....it seems to me...is in that he....far more than any other minister anywhere....describes how God's glory is everything! There is our joy....in that God gets glory! It is certainly not our glory....and not even our joy.....but glory given to God that should drive us to worship.God is taking these stalwart ministers away....one by one. We essentially no longer have Christian bookstores.....for people to just stumble across and have their lives and eternities changed.....just as happened to me forty years ago. There is no Billy Graham to come to as we switch the channels on the television. We now have hundreds of channels and other streaming sources to cement us in out lethargy and ignorance. Is it really that bad? No....it's much worse. I just do not have the words to adequately describe the Vanity Fair that we are living right in the middle of.

We are right now in an odd but recurring over the centuries situation....where someone like who you may be....searching for truth or in the very first days of your Christian walk....where you can take advantage of your newness....and find yourself exploding in joy at finding out who this Jesus is....while the majority in the church....think themselves already so very learned....that no more learning is needed.
