Well it's that time of year again when the media/politics watchdog company Mediaite announces the 75 most influential media personalities. Only this year with the ascendance of artificial intelligence.....Mediaite is able to give in order the most influential people in the entire world....all 8 billion....194 million....270 thousand and 656 people!
Elon Musk came in first because of Twitter or X or whatever it is called....and Joe Rogan second because he uses the F word more than anyone else.. Sean Hannity was the number five....which is a testament to his long career in radio and television. Tucker Carlson was number 37. I wish it were one million and thirty-seven. Jesus always came in the top ten but with the rise of Donald Trump....the Creator of the universe....and the King of all kings....came in two-hundred and fifty-third. I came in number 8 billion....133 million....269 thousand....716....which I am happy with for it is a move-up of 61 million and18 people....but then again 61 million people died in the last year.
Who are your....influencers? I'm serious....who in the media influences you more than anyone else? If you are young and reckless it might very well be Joe Rogan. Donald Trump was not included in the top 75 because he supposedly is not media. This is a man who has over the past nine years tweeted the world as a conductor leads an orchestra....but technically he doesn't count.
How about your favorite media minister? Billy Graham was America's pastor for many decades. He was an influencer more than Joe Rogan is today....and we can thank God for that mercy.
For many decades....to conservatives anyway....talk radio was a huge influence upon us....and it did a pretty good job....until around 2015 when it lost all integrity and ethics. Fox Cable....O'Reilly and Hannity etc....had a big impact on our thinking....but that is all gone as far as being an information source....for it is now just an outlet for MAGA. Podcasters are the big thing today. As I read over the top 75 most influential media....I could not even recognize half of the names.....probably not three-quarters if the names!
I have some advice for you....(what else is new)....get rid of Fox cable and talk radio and all the podcasters! Suppose there was an....EMP....electromagnetic pulse....an EMP attack on our nation? All telecommunications might end for a considerable period of times. What would I do without my iPhone or these posts? I'm typing right now on a laptop....and listening over headphones to hymns on my iPhone....as the house is full of women for a Christmas party. Well....might it not be wise to prepare for that loss of telecommunications right now....so that we are not rendered catatonic without our media toys?
