I thought that this video of the conclusion of the speech that President Johnson gave on March 31, 1968....I thought it worthy for us to watch today. I remember where I was as he gave this speech....at Ted's Dairy Store....as an eighteen year old....watching this along with....Ted....on a small television that he kept on the counter. It was a shocker. The president gave the media an advance copy of the forty minute speech....but that advance copy did not include the announcement at the end of the speech. You will notice that President Johnson quoted the admonition of Jesus that a house divided will not stand. Five days after this speech Martin Luther King was shot....and sixty-two days after that....Bobby Kennedy.
The collapse of America came slow. That is the way that God has always done it. Would you rather that He gave no warnings at all? There was even a time of revival and reformation that peaked in the mid-80s....and then waned....and led to a falling away that we are experiencing today....where compassion and humility and love have been replaced by power and pride and revenge....all in the name of God of course. Jonah warned Nineveh....and the city then changed for a while....and God later sent Nahum....(rhymes with Graham)....no warnings this time other than to prepare for what is coming.
