This post would normally be just a 'preface' to the post that I have below it....but it is important enough to give it its own place as a 'Lord's Day Post.' I was somewhat blown away this morning....Saturday....January 15, 2022....as I listened in to John Piper's daily sermon....because it fit perfectly into the post below....many of the below posts actually....and so perfectly also in the need for Christians today. So if you leave church today....(or tomorrow morning)....and find that whatever message you may have heard is gone from your mind....and you are as if asking yourself....'tell me again what the excitement is about a savior'....and you are already planning your day....possibly in what NFL playoff games to watch....particularly if you live here in Pittsburgh....and if at the very least....in a moment of introspection....you feel guilt as to what your Lord's Days have become....and how little you may be separated from the world....and how you are not really part of a peculiar people....and you know that your church services do not move you in any way anymore....if they ever had....then please listen to this thirty-five minute sermon.
I won't even try to describe it....for the title alone explains the essence. You can listen in one of two ways. Just Google....John Piper, Helping Each Other Endure To The End....or....and I recommend this because it would familiarize you to John Piper's Internet website and ministry....just go to desiringgod.org....click on the menu icon at the top right.....click on podcasts.....scroll down to Sermon Of The Day....and click on subscribe.....(you are not really subscribing to anything here)....pick a host....most likely Apple Podcasts....and start by clicking on....Latest Episode.
This message was given over thirty-five years ago....and I'm sure that it is much more relevant today then back then. It demonstrates the perseverance of but one pastor....others such as Billy Graham persevered....growing along the way....serving through crusades for almost seven decades.....Martyn Lloyd-Jones in his London pastorate for three decades....Spurgeon for forty years in the same city but in the previous century.....R. C. Sproul through his Ligonier ministries for a half century....and many other faithful pastors who never changed the message to suit the times.
