What Happens In The New Birth

The following....preface included....was first posted as a Lord's Day post in November of last year.

Preface: I have to address the problem where it is at. The following words may seem stilted or pompous but it is because of the brevity that I have to employ here. Multitudes believe that they are Christians....but they are not. I am talking evangelicals here....not just liberals. They attend church....and give all the correct answers on their professed faith....but react in defiance if that faith is questioned as a biblical saving faith. They are supremely confident of their claim to being Christian....and utterly refuse to examine the possibility that they have been misled by a modern and user-friendly evangelicalism. If they would but be honest with themselves they would see that it may be their pride speaking....and that no one is going to tell them that after decades of thinking themselves born again....whatever that term may me be….as they view it...that they may not be a child of God. The true Christian may totally disagree with efforts like mine in this post. They know the seriousness of the situation.....but prefer to be patient....and pray for God's tender and loving call to the heart. I have had too many friends die without Christ. Time is short....and I know that the heart gets harder as time passes. There is a place for both the patient and the one who...."attempts to [snatch] them out of he fire." Speaking directly to the reader....only you can know if on the scales....pride....or love of Christ....has the more weight? The following post is a few weeks old.

What Happens In The New Birth

Many if not most evangelicals really aren't that interested in listening to a sermon if it's not on a Sunday....but those who are searching may be a little less self-confident. I heard this sermon today....and wanted to give a recommendation for it in its own post. Just Google up....What Happens In The New Birth...Part 1, John Piper....and it will come right up. (and I added this sermon a few days later….for it is powerful….and with a message that few pastors are bold enough to address. Just Google….The Final Divide, John Piper.)
