"Rumors Of War"
When I was in the army....fifty years ago....I dealt with maps and reports and briefings....and I had a top secret clearance....and I've been reading on this stuff over that half century since then....along with countless biographies on world leaders....and generals in war....and war in general.....so I may not have a PHD in political science....but I know when a 'rumor of war' is legitimate....and what is going on with Putin and Xi Jinping should be more than concerning.
As for statesmanship....we have to be the dumbest generation in our history. People like Bolton are mostly gone....run out of town by a guy who probably never read a chapter on political science in his life....and by all accounts that have come out....could not even get through a one page daily brief. That he said that he was smarter than all the generals....when not calling them babies that is....is something right out of a comic book where the characters are not even supposed to be believable.....for that's what makes it a comic book!
The goal should always be....no world war....and certainly no chance of nuclear war. And you never let your back be up against a wall....and shouldn't even put an opponent's back against a wall. And you don't fight each other at critical times like this....but come together. Putin and Xi Jinping are meeting....virtually....and behind the scenes they are surely making coordinated contingency plans for war....and you better believe that Kim Jong-un is a part of it....and probably the Middle-East.
I'll turn on talk radio and man....they're ready for war.....pounding their chest.....but you know what....few if any of these guys will have to go. Have any of you even thought about what a military draft would look like if we had to have one. We can't even wear a mask today without complaining....and there are no safe spaces in basic training. I've been there....you don't tell the army doctor in basic that you don't want that shot thank-you.
Where are our pulpits? Aren't shepherds supposed to protect the sheep from wolves? Billy Graham is long gone. Woe are us....if we do not see our predicament....and our culpability in it....and humble ourselves before the Lord of Glory....who alone causes nations to rise and to fall.
