Man For The Hour?

I was stirring scrambled eggs on the stove....with a day full of errands and chores ahead....but listening to John Piper's sermon of the day....and I....it wasn't really a laugh....well maybe it was....but it was so short. This has happened so often with this preacher....that he hits it right on the head what we need as a people....that I just shake my head....and utter...."thank you Lord....for Thy provision!" I'm sure it never will....but I also hope it never will be that John Piper reads this following comment....or any like it. Billy Graham was the nation's pastor for many decades. (Spurgeon was England's pastor for four decades....Martyn-Lloyd-Jones at a later time) He....Graham....was not a theologian by any means. He himself would tell you that....and yes he was an evangelist.....but he was most of all a pastor....in that his constant presence kept us in line....as far as a rebellious people could be kept in line anyway. Graham is gone. No one has taken his place as of yet....and probably no one ever will....but then we are a remnant today....so that pastor would not have to be as well-known as Billy Graham. John Piper comes the closest. His ministry apparently has been so difficult....that the last thing he would need....would be some blogger saying that he was the nation's pastor. God obviously blesses different men at different times. Whitefield was the man for the hour. My hope and prayer is that John Piper is the man for this hour. Listen to today's sermon of the day....(this one was a conference lecture actually)....and ask God if it might be that you should pray fervently for this man's ministry to a fallen nation and weakened church. Just Google...."John Piper....Glory, Majesty, Dominion, and Authority"....and it will take you to the YouTube....or you can go to desiringgod.org....and navigate the site to find the sermon of the day.
