It's a parable of sorts....a very short story that takes about twenty-six minutes to tell....and John Piper.....(desiringgod.org)....used it as today's sermon of the day. You can easily Google it at.....The Gallows And The Gift Of Life. It's one of those special broadcasts where you can ask a family member....a son or daughter.....or elderly parent.....to listen to with you.....for it is not very threatening....as opposed to asking them to listen to sermon. I can tell you that it is moving....if you have ever been in the prison that the storyteller relates. It is also sobering....if you take the message serious....and abundantly joyful....if you are no longer in that prison.
Addendum: In the past I have had the opportunity to just read for friends who were dying....and unable to converse. In the case of a former pastor....a most wonderful preacher of Jesus Christ....he only wanted the Psalms to be read. I bring this up as an idea. This 'story' mentioned above.....The Gallows And The Gift Of Life....might serve a wonderful purpose....to someone who needs to hear of salvation in Jesus Christ.
