I am not an academic. It would have been nice....in a worldly way....to walk into a classroom for forty years and have young people listen intently to you....just because you worked for a PHD or secured a position at a college or university and then got your tenure. In a way pastors are like that. "Oh you're a pastor!"...someone might comment....as if that means that you surely must know the gospel of Jesus Christ....where in reality today it almost means the opposite. Woe to these men who have failed their calling to protect the sheep....who secured that position....and then fell in love with that image in their mirror. Should any somehow come across this post....this is Friday that I am posting this....about forty-eight hours till they entire a pulpit....or a go behind a lecturn....look around you at what has happened while you were asleep.....and weep if you are not already hardened beyond even mercy....for your sheep have already fallen for great delusion. They were your responsibility....but you had too much pride to fall on your face and weep for wisdom to protect them. Spurgeon had no Bible degree....and John Owens lamented that he could not preach like the tinker Bunyan. A few times in these posts I commented of the typical pastor that God could have the man running a snake through their basement floor drain to open their eyes should He so desire. If you remember anything from seminary....you know that God is merciful to those who return to Him....where would we all be if He did not forgive us when we humbled ourselves before Him? Begin again...the worst is yet to come....and God will cause you to retain that which was good and profitable....and give you discernment....if you but humble yourself in your position.
