Possibly some readers might wonder at times why I change posts for a day or so and then return to the posts that were up front to begin with. I might do this if I'm traveling to a beach....which could be either a six or a twelve hour drive. With my bumper stickers on I could get visitors from almost anywhere. At other times I might be on college campuses....so I'll bring back posts that were meant to speak to young people. At other times I might be at a Christian conference so I'll direct the posts to pastors or evangelicals in general.
Today it is college campuses. These are difficult posts to write....for I sit here having had the luxury of living my life in America....or what once was America. After a rebellious start I looked forward to retirement and watched our son grow to adulthood and have a family of his own....but what I have to tell you of today is a different story.Here's my resume....56 years of closely following politics. I could tell you of early mornings....3 & 4 in the morning....at the computer watching returns come in....this over multiple decades....or what it was like to be one of Bobby Kennedy's young supporters....or shortly after my conversion....one who loved Reagan just as much. You name the politician and I'll give you the rundown. I do my homework....I read and read and observe and observe. I don't waste my time on sports....other than extreme sports....by that I mean....extreme moderation in any sport!
So about Donald John Trump....I didn't like him from day one....but I voted for him....and celebrated no Hillary. (Read my prayer for Trump sometime. It's off to the left in the archives) A couple of months later I could see that something was terribly wrong here....who was this Trump....I started reading.....remember....I read. I looked at the stack of books next to me. This was probably in late 2018....and counted the books....32 books on Trump. It was easy to keep track after that. I am on number 101 right now. Forcing myself to read. Everything about his life....in his youth....in his work with his father....his marriages....his golf....his celebrity....books on his relationship with Russian money.....books supposedly written by him. (He never wrote those books. The one ghostwriter who spent 18 months with him said that Trump probably never read a book through cover to cover in his life....what he does read is articles....about himself)
He's a con man....maybe the best con man ever. He doesn't have a sincere thought in his head or a care for anyone. It is all contrived. He will switch directions at the drop of a hat if it benefits him. And he destroys.....just about everything he touches or even gets near. Dozens...hundreds of careers are destroyed today of people who chose to follow him. Giuliani is a perfect example. Ted Cruz is another....once a brilliant lawyer....now a lawyer with a "skull full of mush."
I am writing this.....probably the 100th post on Trump....and I still cannot believe that he bewitched the conservatives and evangelicals as he did. This is supernatural folks....something is going on behind the scenes for a whole people to be deceived.
I got off the track that I'm supposed to be on. We had an opportunity as a people....this decades ago....to humble ourselves and turn back to God. We were close back in the mid-80s....but we lost it....slowly but surely....and then along came Trump.
AI....artificial intelligence....is more than a major problem. Man never should have let this thing get off the ground. We will pay for it. America today is half pagan. Even when Reagan was running against Mondale we still respected one another. The Clintons were the beginning of the collapse. I hope....Lord willing....to be in the theater the first day that the new film....Civil War....comes out. That's this Friday. I want to weep each and every day at how we have been torn apart.
So once again....you will not have the luxury as I did of wasting much of my early life. A quote just came to mind that I heard Charles Spurgeon give in a sermon....I listened to the sermon three times and still could not discern who he was quoting.....but the quote was...."every institution eventually becomes the opposite of what it began as." Think about that....for it includes America. You are being called upon right now....and you have a wagonload of baggage in the form of social media and....for as Neil Postman is famous for putting it....'amusing ourselves to death.' Everything today is directed at us getting what we think we deserve....no matter how unethical or self-serving it might be. Well that's all I have to say in one post. Maybe you can find a Professor to tell you how wrong I am.....then pray about it....and see what the Holy Spirit might have to say.
